Terms & Conditions for Tree Buyers and Donors in Trees4CO2

By choosing to buy or donate trees through Trees4CO2 AS, a Norwegian registered company, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions. This Agreement uses the terms “we”, “us”, “our”, “T4CO2” or “Trees4CO2” to refer to Trees4CO2 AS, and “you”, “your”, or “buyer” to refer to the individual or business entity that purchases or donates trees through Trees4CO2. Our forestry partner is Better Globe Forestry (BGF). Any individual or entity wishing to participate in our carbon offset program must accept the terms of this Agreement without modification.

Carbon Offset Program

Our Carbon Offset Program works the following way:

• The price per tree is EUR 15 + VAT. Payments made in other currencies will be converted based on the daily exchange rates provided by the European Central Bank.
• By buying or making a donation of trees through us, you are supporting efforts to combat climate change, protect the environment, and assist disadvantaged communities by providing access to water, school renovations, education, microfinance, employment opportunities, and other socio-economic initiatives.
• BGF plants various indigenous species that are well-suited and can thrive in dry conditions. The increased crop yields and harvests for partner farmers are directly linked to these trees. BGF established its first tree plantation in 2004 and currently operates four plantations in Kenya.
• The trees you buy or donate are planted in BGF’s plantations or on partner farmers’ land. They are expertly nurtured and cared for in a secure environment with minimal risks of fire, damage from animals, pests, and diseases.
• BGF and its partner farmers regularly prune the trees as they grow by removing dead and dying branches and stubs. This allows for new growth and prevents property damage. It also reduces the risk of pest and animal infestation, promoting the tree’s natural shape and healthy growth.
• BGF and its partner farmers will replant all donated trees every 15-20 years up to four times, meaning that for every tree that is donated, a total of 5 trees will be planted, with a carbon offset lifespan of over 75-100 years. Each tree is estimated to offset 0.5 tons of carbon emissions over a 15-20 year period. Trees that are purchased for a future payout, as opposed to being donated, will not be replanted.
• Payment must be received via bank transfer or card before T4CO2 and BGF’s responsibilities outlined in this Agreement begin.
• Participation in our carbon offset program is voluntary.
• You can access your tree donation and purchase receipts on T4CO2’s website by logging in. Moreover, receipts will also be sent to you via email.
• T4CO2 cannot assist or be held accountable for any loss or failure of receipt or electronic messages sent via email, including if they are sent to the recipient’s spam folder.

Tree subscription

• You can subscribe to or unsubscribe from a tree donation or tree purchase plan with T4CO2 at any time.
• You will receive an email reminder from us three days before the due date for your upcoming tree subscription payment. To avoid manual monthly transfers, we recommend setting up a monthly auto-payment through your bank if you choose to pay by bank. Remember to update your bank’s auto-payment settings if you stop or change your subscription on our website.
• A friendly email reminder will be sent to you three days before the due date for your upcoming tree subscription payment. For those who have chosen payment by invoice, an email containing the invoice will be sent three days prior to the scheduled due date for your payment.
• It is your responsibility to keep track of your account and subscription settings with T4CO2.

Buyer Data

• By agreeing to this agreement, you commit to providing accurate information about yourself and keeping your account updated on T4CO2’s website under “User Settings”. Failing to do so may result in declined payments, lack of communication and updates from T4CO2.
• Email is T4CO2’s primary method of communication, and you agree to keep your email address updated on your T4CO2 account.
• Sensitive information such as your password is protected through encryption and hashing for added security.

Registration Process

• In order to participate in our carbon offset program, you must first accept the terms and conditions outlined in this Agreement.
• The minimum donation or purchase requirement is one tree, which is equivalent to offsetting half a ton of carbon.
• If you opt to pay by invoice instead of using a card, we’ll email you the invoice, and you can also download or print it from your customer page after logging in. The invoice will contain our bank and account details, making it simple to input the information when making the payment at your bank. Just remember, if the payment isn’t received by the due date mentioned in the invoice, there’s a possibility that your donation, tree purchase, or newly registered account could be canceled or deleted.

Refund

• You have a 14-day window starting from the time we receive your payment for your tree order in which you can cancel your payment and request a refund.
• It is your responsibility to reach out to T4CO2 support within the 14-day window to request cancellation of your tree payment and refund. When you contact us, you must provide the order ID and your email. You can contact T4CO2 support through our contact form, chat or by emailing support@Trees4CO2.com. If you fail to contact support within the 14-day window, you will lose your right to a refund.

Terms for Tree Buyers

• These terms apply only to tree buyers, not to donated trees.
• The buyer or their representative must be at least 18 years old. The account cannot be registered or transferred to anyone under 18 years old.
• After 15-20 years, we will repay you the original purchase price of trees you buy with compound interest rate tied to the Norwegian consumer price index (CPI). The compound interest rate will be applied in Euros as the currency.
• We guarantee 100% reimbursement on trees you buy in the period from year 5 to year 15, where you will receive your original purchase price. If you choose to receive a reimbursement, the deal with receiving compound interest rate tied to the CPI will no longer be applicable.
• The payout or reimbursement will be made in Euro to your registered bank account that accepts international transfers.
• Purchasing trees from us does not grant you ownership of the trees or any rights to sell, transfer, or dispose of them. You only have the right to receive a payout with compound interest in one of the years between 15 and 20 years after your purchase or the option to request a reimbursement.
• If we are unable to transfer your payout to your account in in one of the years between 15 and 20 following your original tree purchase, due to reasons such as incorrect or missing account information, a declined transaction by the bank, or other similar incidents, you have a two-year window to contact us to resolve the issue. We will also attempt to contact you during this period. If you do not contact us within the two-year period, you will forfeit your rights to the payout and your trees will be treated as donated.
• Contact our support at support@trees4co2.com if you want to change your tree purchase to a donation.
• In the event of death, contact our support at support@trees4co2.com for assistance regarding transfer or settlement of the account.

Legal Terms and Conditions

• We only accept full, one-time payments for tree donations and purchases, and do not accept partial or down payments.
• This Agreement is not valid until payment for the ordered trees is received through the registration process on our website.
• Once payment for your trees is received, we will transfer the funds to our forestry partner, BGF, who will generate the tree seedlings corresponding to the number of trees you purchased or donated. BGF will also guarantee that the trees are planted and maintained properly during their lifetime.
• A carbon emission certificate will be issued to you within a month of receiving payment for the trees and can be downloaded from our website after logging in.
• T4CO2, nor its directors and employees, are not responsible for any losses or damages, direct or indirect, resulting from technical errors in our Terms & Conditions, websites, brochures, or other published materials.
• The future prospective payout deal of the trees purchased through T4CO2 carries risks and uncertainties such as market volatility, timber prices, political risks, drought, mortality of trees, and force majeure events. The payout price is not guaranteed, and the actual results in the future may differ materially from the intended prospective value. T4CO2 disclaims any liability for any consequential loss, perceived or actual, before or after entering into this Agreement. T4CO2 does not provide financial or investment advice and is not a financial advisor.

This Agreement will be governed by the laws of Norway.
